October 13, 2011
When we designed iCall 7, we created it with two audiences in mind - individual consumers and business customers. For the business user, our primary objective was to create professional collaboration tools and services that would be intuitive and convenient to use, and just as important … free.

Last week, iCall hosted the June 2011 FreeSWITCH Training Bootcamp, taught by FreeSWITCH expert, Darren Schreiber, of 2600hz (http://www.2600hz.com). As many of our readers know, FreeSWITCH is a scalable, open source platform that routes and interconnects communication protocols using audio, video, text and any other form of media.
Changes abound within the VoIP Marketplace ... and is there a new iCall Service on the way?
May 24, 2011
There's been a lot in the news over the past couple of weeks about Microsoft's acquisition of Skype for $8.5 BILLION.
Mobilizing the Mobile Workforce
May 3, 2011
I was reading the recently released Total Employee Mobility Benchmark Report from Runzheimer International and found that mobile employees now make up an average of 45 percent of the workforce. With a 19.8 percent growth in the worldwide mobile phone market in the previous quarter, it's not surprising.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We Have Winner(S)

Around this time last month, we kicked off our first social media promotion with much success. Our iCall Care Package Giveaway ran for two weeks, encouraging iCall users and nonusers alike to join our online community and engage with us there for the chance to win our own version of a care package. This past week, we were pleased to congratulate three winners and reward them with their prizes - an iPod Touch, a pair of Plantronics headphones and a one-month unlimited subscription to iCall. You might call it "VoIP preparedness"
March 31, 2011
One of our first tweets back in 2008 was, "Not sure what we could be using twitter for." Since then, our follower base has grown to more than 900 people who are interested in VoIP and iCall. We have initiated, interjected into and continued a number of conversations with iCall users and non-users alike. Additionally, we have shared information about company and product progression, as well as listened to news and updates from the industry. Twitter has turned into a valuable tool for us to communicate with you in "real time" on a more personal level. We now know exactly what we can use Twitter for, and we're continuing to take full advantage of the service.

A Word About Ads

VoIP Security Is Not Optional
February 25, 2011
Securing communication lines has been one challenge that VoIP providers have encountered over the years. VoIP attacks, where hackers are able to listen in or record phone conversations, steal sensitive information discussed during calls, and hijack phones to make expensive overseas calls, have been on the rise. The Internet has made it easy to become a VoIP hacker-a simple Google search reveals all the steps to butting in on a call.
The Big Move
February 18, 2011
Dallas, Texas is home to Southwest Airlines, Texas Instruments, the Dallas Cowboys and now iCall. My colleague and co-founder of iCall, Andy Muldowney, and I grew up in Texas, so it only made sense that we move the company from Connecticut back to our southern roots. We recognized Dallas as a hive of technological and cultural advances and saw the potential to foster and expand upon innovation in the area. We also saw the value in a new central location, as it makes it easier for our servers to route packets of information quickly between both coasts. This improves your iCall experience with a smoother and more seamless service.
VoIP Over 3G
February 4, 2011
Last week marked the one-year anniversary of Apple lifting their restrictions on VoIP calls over 3G. We are proud to be the first VoIP provider to allow for calls over 3G, and have seen the growth in mobile VoIP adoption first hand over the last year. Industry experts see it too; According to analyst firm In-Stat, by 2014, there will be more than 139 million mobile VoIP users worldwide.
Addressing International VoIP Challenges
January 20, 2011
Recently there have been a few rumblings around the industry about China blocking VoIP services. A notice posted in December by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) read, "Currently, our ministry is working with relevant departments on launching an effort to strike against illegal VoIP services, and we are collecting clues from the public about illegal VoIP cases."

The New Year is a time for reflection for me. It gives me an opportunity to think about where I've been, and where I want to go in the future. I'd like to invite you to look back with me at the moment that inspired the founding of iCall. I hope it helps you understand our vision for the company and where we'd like to go from here in the New Year.

iCall Gets A Major Facelift
December 11, 2009
After listening intently to our users, we came to the conclusion that we can make iCall for the Desktop even better. You want to be able to chat with your friends on AIM, MSN, and Google Talk from the same client that you can make free phone calls from. You want to use iCall on your mobile devices, Windows, Mac, and Linux computers.
iCall Goes to Washington D.C.
May 22, 2009
When it comes to technological freedoms, at iCall we believe that it's your right as a consumer to be able to fully utilize the devices that you've paid for. On March 8th, 2009, iCall CEO Arlo Gilbert and CTO Andy Muldowney found themselves standing outside of the Library of Congress preparing to testify before the U.S. Copyright Office.
